Arne Naess Jr, killed in climbing accident
Arne Naess Jr. former husband of Diana Ross was killed on Tuesday, in a mountain accident, in South Africa.
Mr. Naess was a guest on the farm Lomarins in Franschook. "He went climbing at 08:00 this morning and fell to his death at about 12:30pm" police captain Etienne Terblanche told News24.
According to national wire service, SAPA, the accident apparently happened on the Rupert farm, where he stayed with friends.
Naess was born August 12th, 1937. He summated Mount Everest on April 29th, 1985 via the standard South East Ridge route as leader of a Norwegian expedition. In the team was another famous mountaineer - Chris Bonnington. Read more about it on www.everesthistory.com
Naess was born in Germany in 1937, a nephew of Norway's Arne Naess Senior, who was a mountaineer and philosopher. Jr, married soul singer Diana Ross in 1987. The couple was divorced in 1999.
Naess leaves seven children, including two with his partner, Norwegian Camilla Astrup.
