Norway and Russia to sign delimitation agreement
|
The agreement between Russia and Norway on the maritime delimitation line in the Barents Sea and the Polar Sea will be signed in the Russian city of Murmansk on September 15th.
Norway's Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store and his Russian opposite number, Sergej Lavrov, will sign the agreement, public broadcaster NRK reports, quoting the Norwegian Ebassy in Moscow.
The signing marks the end of 40 years of negotiations on the maritime border in the North between the two nations.
Agreement on the new border agreement was announced in April, during Russian President Dmitrij Medvedev's visit to Norway.

Seafood export on the rise
|
Norway exported seafood worth NOK 3.7 billion in August, an increase of NOK 667 million compared with the same month last year. The export of salmon constitutes most of the increase.
So far this year, Norway has exported seafood worth NOK 31.6 billion. This is NOK 4.7 million higher than for the same period last year, according to fresh figures from the Export Council for Fish (EFF).

Strong Growth in the Housing Market

Fresh numbers from Statistics Norway (SSB) show that the housing market is rebounding. In fact, house building has grown by 30 percent in the last year.
The growth is most noticeable in orders for new private houses, which grew by 59 percent from the second to third quarter in 2010. However, also orders for commercial structures grew by 32 percent in the same period.
Renovation of private housing grew by around 28 percent, but for commercial buildings this rate remained stable in the last year. The demand for new industrial complexes fell by 10 percent since the same period last year, remaining stable in the second quarter.

Football: Riise out with injury
|
John Arne Riise (Roma) suffered a severe concussion when he collided with Espen Ruud during Norway's practice session on Monday. He will not be able to play against Portugal on Tuesday.
Riise was unconcious for several minutes, and was taken to hospital. Doctors believe he will be out for several weeks.
Norway coach Egil "Drillo" Olsen says Norway's team has been weakended by the mishap, and that it will be difficult to fully replace Riise who normally plays left back.
