Image result for history about bjorklund cheese slicer
The cheese slicer was invented in 1925 by the Norwegian carpenter Thor Bjørklund (1889-1975).  “The appearance of the cheese slicer has barely changed since its invention in 1925.” The cheese slicer went into production in 1927 in Lillehammer and since then the factory has produced more than 50 million cheese slicers.

Brown Cheese slicer:
This cheese slicer cut thin thinner slices than other models. Perfect for the Norwegian brown cheese and cheeses with a lot of taste.

Cheese slicers that have to cut hard cheeses must have other abilities than those that are intended to cut softer cheeses. Continuous improvements are being made for the slicers to cut well. The cheese slicer works best when the blade lies flat on the cheese, and you do not put too much pressure on it when cutting. The models are machine washable, but the wood handle is not as neat after repeated washing cycles. Therefore, we recommend washing by hand.

Oak:
Wood of oak is strong and hard and is used extensively for building structures, floors and furniture. Oak wood  is very resistant to rot. The wood is golden with shades of yellow and light brown, sometimes even with slight hint of red. The oak's good strength and beautiful drawings mean that it can be used for all internal support structures, especially if you want wood that is both strong and decorative. The good durability makes oak materials suitable for cheese slicer handles.

Walnut:
Walnut is a dark, exclusive wood that is used in fine furniture. Walnut has a large color variation, from the lightest to medium brown and almost black in the core wood. Walnut has virtually the same hardness as wages. In Norway, there are oak trees growing  as far north as Nord-Trøndelag. Some places they grow as tall as 25 meters, (75 feet)!
